University Visitors Confirm Penalties for Sex Scandal

UVA Board issue a 3-page statement regarding the punishments it has meted out to 11+ students following an assault on a nineteen year-old woman visiting Grounds. Quote from President Darden: "'I cannot escape the conclusion that the University itself must bear some of the blame for what has occurred. We have failed, for what reason I do not know, to build a society here that furnishes safeguards that parents have a right to expect, for children who are students here or are visitors here." The nineteen year-old victim sustained bruises and injuries after a "number of the students" assaulted her in a room on the Lawn.
