More Power Slated for Student Unit
Following student complaints of administrative overreach in the wake of discipline meted out to the 12+ students involved in a sexual assault against a 19 year-old girl on April 3rd, President Darden approves a student government reorganization program to give greater disciplinary authority to the student body. This includes a the "creation of a three-man, faculty-administration-student committee to investigate cases involving sex offenses" and restores to students "disciplinary powers withdrawn last summer after a student mass meeting in May at which student leaders attacked Darden's administration." However, Darden retains the position of "sole judge of penalties to be imposed in misconduct cases involving sex offenses."Subject | |
