Martinsville Seven

"The Martinsville Seven were a group of young black men executed in 1951 in Martinsville, Virginia after being convicted of raping a white woman." The NAACP brought national attention to the case, arguing that Virginia’s legal code was racially biased since offenders who were white “seldom if ever” received the death penalty when convicted of rape.
