'Girls or NGSL' is Offensive
What does it take to have women taken seriously at the University of Virginia Law School? Obviously something more than the fact that we make up more than one third of the enrollment and have excelled academically at the Law School. The Law weekly feature “Girls of the NGSL†was in very poor taste. It is hard for me to believe that the Law Weekly editors did not expect outrage at this obvious putdown to women. The fact that a “Boys of the NGSL†feature is “coming soon†does not remedy the situation and I will find it equally sexist and degrading. At the very least, I expect a written apology from the Law Weekly to all the student and the employees at the Law School. This type of journalism can only darken the poor light Virginia is already in because of the lack of women and minority Law Professors. Blaise Supler LAW II |
