UJC Members Plan for New Harassment Cases
The University Judiciary Committee replaces the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs as the UVA body with the power to litigate student-to-student harassment cases. The policy shift comes in response to a report issued by the US Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights, entitled "Sexual Harassment Guidance." Before this shift, the UJC had classified instances of sexual harassment as "disorderly conduct." The article also distinguishes between "quid pro quo" harassment and "hostile environment" harassment.Subject | |
