Buck v. Bell
A court case that "affirmed the constitutionality of Virginia's law allowing state-enforced sterilization." Carrie Buck, a resident of Charlottesville, was committed to the Virginia State Colony for Epileptics and Feeble-Minded for being feebleminded and promiscuous after reporting a rape by her nephew. With eugenics becoming increasingly favorable, the state ruled Buck unfit to produce offspring for the betterment of society. Article also includes information on eugenics in relation to African American and American Indian genetic inferiority.Subject | |
