Union Occupation of Charlottesville

A historical account of the Union cavalry occupation of Charlottesville and the University of Virginia during the Civil War in 1865. Those enslaved at the University used the Union occupation to escape their enslavement. Also noteworthy is an attempted rape by Union troops on a servant named Nancy.
