Good ol' Boys?

This opinion article reacts to recent allegations of the sexual assault and rape of female cadets by male instructors at Ford Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The writer asserts that the male instructors have critically violated the drill instructor/recruit relationship that is necessary for effective military training, and argues further that these assaults reflects poorly on the integrity of the military. She concludes that a "boys will be boys" approach to sexual assault in the military persists, and maintains that the military must actively promote the equal treatment of male and female members.
