Street Smarts
This article presents a hypothetical situation in which a female student is assaulted while walking home alone at night, and asserts that the University is not responsible for such an assault. Instead, she argues, students must assume responsibility for their own safety. She cites safety resources available at UVA, including the transit service, the Student Escort Service, and Citizen Assistance Phones, but states that there are still gaps in UVA's safety net, and therefore students must make an effort to ensure their own safety.Subject | |
