Charlottesville Va May — A University of Virginia official said today a newly publicized campus sex scandal is being investigated. He refused to comment on a student newspaper charge about an approaching "sell out" to "political pressure ." Colgate W Darden Jr university president said the reported incident involving 11 students and a teenage girl is now in the hands of the board of visitors. The board is the university's highest disciplinary and policy-making body. Darden said he did not feel he is at liberty to comment on charges published by the campus newspaper, The Cavalier Daily, that political pressure has been brought upon university officials to prevent the dismissal of the 11 male students. The editorial was itself the first published mention of the affair and gave no details but wide spread reports said a young woman who came here to attend a university dance in April went to a mens dormitory where the incident occurred.
