Unsilenced: How this mother fought to protect her daughter... and yours.

An article detailing Susan Russell's efforts to prosecute the rape of her daughter Kathryn at UVA in 2004. The piece explains the various misinformation and failures of medical professionals as well as police in procuring evidence that would have substantiated her daughter's alleged rape. It also relays the actions and inactions of the University administration and sexual assault reporting processes that she encountered. Furthermore, Susan Russell tried to get Kathryn's Law (HB2490) passed, which would require university police to turn over their "lead in rape and murder investigations to local departments."
