This Viewpoint article discusses the various psychological challenges faced by survivors of childhood molestation and incest, both during childhood and into adulthood. Those discussed include depression, difficulty sustaining relationships, difficulty parenting, intermittent loss and regaining of memories of the assault, and shame.
