Rape: Local Group Helps Victims Cope, Live With the Trauma

The Rape Crisis Group, a telephone helpline established on Rugby Road in 1975, provides support and an open ear to survivors of sexual violence. The group's volunteers, who include students, discuss their role and responsibility, and the article comments on the increased incidence of rape since the 1970s and the apparent plateau in the number of reported rapes in Albemarle County towards the mid-1980s.
