Correspondence between third-year student Joann Barton and UVA President Hereford (October 1976)

In a letter to UVA President Hereford, third-year student Joann Barton notes that "In the past few years the number of attacks on both male and female students has been noted and has seemingly increased. There is no reason why the students of the University cannot walk around without fear of rape or assault." She urges President Hereford to prioritize improving lighting on campus.
