Destructive Images

This article discusses the definition of "obscenity" and its dangerous social implications, citing a 1976 study entitled "Sexual Aggression in American Pornography: The Stereotype of Rape." Researchers involved in this study found a significantly high proportion of depictions of rape and sexual violence in "adults only" paperbacks. Based on these findings, the writer of this article argues that pornography enables destructive attitudes towards women by presenting favorable representations of sexual violence.
