Desegregation

Virginia aims to meet its desegregation goals for 1983, with a total of 1730 black freshmen enrolled in all thirteen colleges and universities, and an increase in minority faculty hiring. President John Casteen remarks on the progress made, and the Office for Civil Rights continues to monitor desegregation in Virginia and some other states.
